This poster was Charlotte Clemens' contribution to the struggle after “The Dismissal”.
The blue and white Eureka flag was chosen as the background to signify the struggle of the majority of the Australian people.
The superimposed indigenous styled animals are traumatized by the American eagle above that is ravaging the Australian goanna,
highlighting the U.S. Imperialism of the time in Australia.
In the distance behind the eagle are animals being attacked by more eagles, alluding to right wing coups that had taken place all
over the world before this event. Animals are used to signify the countries of Greece, Chile and Spain where the U.S was also involved.
The text below the image reads “Fraser plus Kerr plus the C.I.A. equals Fascist Coup”, because as we understood it at the time, Fraser,
Kerr and the C.I.A were all implicated in the planning of Whitlam’s dismissal.
In hindsight, it all seems a passionate response, but that was our reaction to the hostile and extreme action at the time.
